In the spring of 2006, we decided to make a web page. For years now we have loved sharing with friends, and they with us, things we have discovered or learned that make life a little easier. And it would be great if we could do that over coffee. Well, time doesn't allow for that so why not on the web? A resource for moms and women to come and see what has worked for others and possibly find something that will work for them.
As we sat around the kitchen table thinking of a name. Oprah came up. Someone, among our friends and family that were present, said, "too bad you are Not Oprah then folks would for sure take a look at your site." Well it hit! We are NOT Oprah and we will never be. We think she has done some amazing things and has some amazing resources. We will never be her and that is okay. We are just normal women doing our best to make life in the trenches work. So in July of 2006, NotOprah.com began.
Our tips, treasures, and resources have been tested and tried either by us or some of our readers. We know that we can not be a textbook on how to be a woman and we know that we can not address every possible role or need of women, but we do know we can try to tackle the "profession" of motherhood and womanhood in the same way Oprah tackles her profession, with competence and in a polished way.
Enjoy being who God created you to be. You are in an amazing period of life, one with great influence, great joy and great difficulty. Talk about living life to the fullest! Lets try to do that daily and find significance in being ourselves!
