A Little About Us

We have been friends for over 10 years. We knew of each other during High School but did not get to know each other until after we graduated from college. We have been through so much together… marriage, vacations, miscarriages, infertility, childbirths (literally in the room), financial highs and lows, moves, husband’s lost jobs, husband’s new jobs, the deaths of loved ones and that is just to name a few. We plan to experience much more life together as the years go by. We love to learn new things about this role of “motherhood,” the honor of “wifehood” but mostly the joy of “womanhood” and we love even more sharing encouragement and ideas with each other …and now through this website…we get to share this with you too. Come along with us…we are looking forward to the journey!

Seasons change and so do we - check out our new favorite things and favorite things to do during the FALL!

HARGROVE PIC

LAURA

I am 36 years old, and I have been married for 14 years this September to my high school sweetheart! I grew up all over the place, as my dad worked for an oil company, but mainly in Texas. I graduated from high school in Houston, and Baylor University. I was a high school English teacher (yikes) for about 7 years before staying home with my children. I have an 8-year-old son, Fisher and a 3-year-old daughter, Adeline .
Laura’s Fall Favorites!!!

I love the “schedule” of Fall – I know that sounds crazy, but after three months of the lazy days of summer, I actually like a weekly routine! I love having bible study every Thursday, Mother’s Day out every Tuesday, Football games on Saturday’s…I love the regular TV shows…the school year schedule…I just love it all…It is just busy enough to fill my time and just free enough to enjoy my time…And then, by the end of the year, those lazy days can’t come fast enough!

I still love to read! I love to wake up while it is still dark out read in the quiet of the morning…it is sooooo dark and soooo quiet! The greatest part is that in the Fall and Winter…we keep our heat really low…so when I come down stairs (we all sleep upstairs) it is FREEZING…so I keep a heating pad by my chair where I read in the mornings and slip it in my robe, crank it up to high, and warm up with a nice cup of coffee. The funny part is that when I head to the kitchen to refill my cup, I just unplug the cord from the wall and drag it along like some kind of IV hooked up to me…hope no one has a camera…never mind…no one is up!

I also still love coffee…but in the fall and winter I love to add the festive flavored creamers like Pumpkin spice or nutmeg or egg nog flavors …I drink two cups every morning and, sometime a cup at night on the cold days. Yummy!

I love the weather in Houston in the Fall!!!! I love the coldest days of the year and I feel a tinge of sadness when the warmer days start moving back in. In Houston we only get a few cold months (and those are not very cold) and some breezy, nice days and sometimes rainy days and sometimes rainy weeks…I love it all… I love the rainy, icky days too…No sun is necessary for me…save that for summertime!

DANA

History:
I am 37 years old. I've been married for 12 years to Lamar and live just north of Houston. I grew up in the Houston area, graduated from Texas A&M University with a teaching degree, and taught Elementary and Jr. High School for 8 years. I now teach Preschool.

I have a fun silly family. We all love to laugh. I have 2 sisters and 1 brother. I am the oldest. Unfortunately, I became Diabetic (Type 1) when I was a freshman in High School. My youngest sister was soon diagnosed as well. (Hence the love for Diet Coke). When I was a sophomore in High School a friend took me to a Young Life meeting. It was because of these meetings and some amazing Young Life leaders that I became a Christian when I was 15.

Soon after I got married, we decided to start trying to have a baby. After 5 years of infertility treatments, a miscarriage, shots, doctors, and heartaches, we got pregnant with twins through invitro. My diabetes (along with other unforeseen problems) caused me to lose one baby. Our pregnancy and delivery were very complicated, but we were blessed with our daughter, Sydney. She is now 5 and such a joy.

FALL Favorite Things and Favorite Things to Do:

I LOVE FALL! I think mostly cause I can cuddle up in long sleeves and high necked shirts. :) Those fall colors are my thing. I love the feel of dark evenings and all the lamps on in the house for a nice cozy feel.

I love to make soups and breads and enjoy warm meals. I love to sit outside by a firepit. I think the fall and winter are my cup of tea! I do love coffee too. I only have one cup every morning as I sit and read and really don't finish the whole cup but it feels good to hold something warm in the early morning. :)

I love Christmas so much that we decorate the day after Halloween. I love the feel of the coziness of Christmas decorations and want to enjoy them for a long time. So come over on Nov 1 and you will see our tree up. I love the flavors of scented candles for fall and Christmas.
