GROCERY SHOPPING
The average household spends a ton on groceries every week. We have found a great way to reduce that cost and help with planning meals.
Our family loves to have folks over at the spur of the moment and I hate it when I do not have any food to offer. Well the GROCERY GAME has enabled me to not only spend 1/2 as much as I was before a week on groceries, it has also given me a "store" in my house.
Here is the way it works. You pay $5 a month to get a list every week of items that are on sale at the grocery store you choose from their available list. You also cut coupons from your Sunday paper (If you live in a small town, you may have to get a bigger city's paper). Using the sale items and coupons from the current week's paper or weeks past, you buy the items the list tells you to buy (if you will use them eventually).
The idea is to buy items that are on sale before you need them and stock them in your home. That way when you are in need of toilet paper for example you are not running out and getting it at the most expensive price. Many times the coupons will exceed the sale price and you get item for free! Takes a little planning and preparation in the beginning but ultimately it is easy to do and totally worth it. We have been doing it for 2 years now and can't imagine shopping any other way. I just use the meat on the list to determine my menu for the week and most of the time I have a stock pile to pull from!
Their web page will give you ideas on how to organize coupons and stuff. It is a little overwhelming at first but take some time and read it - it is worth it!

Our Own Grocery Shopping Tips:
TIP #1: I decided one day to go to the store and write out the items on each isle. Now at home I can put the isle # by the items on my list and it goes so fast. I am not roaming each isle or going back for missed items. And it helps a ton to skip isles where I do not need anything. With my grocery game list and my isle list - I am done shopping in less then 30 minutes.
TIP #2 Also - if you have time - get in the longest line and enjoy reading some of the magazines. You can then be up with pop culture and not have to buy them!
TIP #3 - check out Laura's staple list of grocery items so you are not forgetting that one item you need. Staple Grocery List
