Party Ideas!
We want to be the house where folks want to hang out. We want to be the place where our kids want to bring their friends. Have a party atmosphere - it is easy. The more you do it, the easier it becomes and it is REALLY FUN FOR EVERYONE - EVEN THE HOST!
Here are some ideas:
TV NIGHTS:
We love to have "get togethers" or parties for TV events. Like finales of favorite shows, sports playoffs, or show season openers. Don't be stressed about food either. We often tell folks to bring their own meat to grill and we provide the sides. You will be surprised how many folks call to see what they can bring - take them up on it - it is a party for you too! Another idea is spaghetti - can make a ton with little cost and everyone loves it. During the season finale weeks, we have a lot of these.
FAMILIES NIGHT:
Some times the guys all get together play poker and then girls will just hang out and watch a movie or talk. We love those low key nights. They end up being really fun. As far as food - we do bring your own or everyone brings an ingredient for a big pot of soup. You can also do Taco Soup or something similar - it stays warm on the stove for a long time. OR even some of the ideas listed on the TV nights section. The kids even come and watch a movie - fun family night for a bunch of families. Try it - it will be fun - just be the host house. You will love it.
FRIDAY PIZZA DAY:
I have a friend that really wants her kids to love to have friends over. So every friday after school she gets some cheap take out pizza and some snacks and her house is the "cool" house that all the neighborhood kids want to come to. We all want to be the "cool" house.
FAVORITE THINGS PARTY:
This is of course from Oprah - we are not Oprah but love this idea. Everyone brings one favorite food AND one favorite item and we share them all - we have had a blast with this and hope to do it a ton.
TRADING THINGS PARTY:
Get some clothes that you do not like any more or anything else and have some friend do the same and come together and trade them.
GARAGE SALES:
This is one of our favorite things to do - we make it a party. The night before the sale we all get together, order take out and stay up late straightening, pricing and chatting. We make it a party. We all spend the night too, so we can get up early and be ready for the big sale the next day. Then you not only had fun with your girl friends, you have some extra money to spend.
