Divide and Conquer Cleaning
Why
give up an entire day to work on your home in order to keep
it clean? I used to spend all day Monday working on my
house. I did all the laundry and all the
cleaning
and somewhere between 4 and 5 pm I was hauling the vacuum
upstairs to finish the upstairs and after an aching back
and ignoring my children all day, I wanted to fall into a
hot bath and sink under the water.
Not any more. Now I divide up the work into little bits
daily... the same things I was doing all day on Monday seem
like nothing when they are spread over seven days, and I
feel more motivated to do a thorough job and not just
working with the motivation to get finished. I try to pick
an area of the house to be more detailed as I am working...
for example, if I am dusting on Wednesday...I will dust
even the picture frames in the "living room" one week and
the next week I will dust the candles in the "dining
room"...depending on what room I want to daily detail clean
that week...make sense? I will refer to these rooms as
"detail rooms" - the rooms I pick once a week that will get
a more detail
cleaning.
Below is what I divided up into the week based on how I
spend my week. I have taken the liberty to add more
cleaning
to MWF, because I want to be out and about on T/Th (I use
those for make up days - or days to get to what I failed to
get to another day). Do it however it works best for your
typical week. Remember the point is to not have an entire
day devoted to working on your house. If you miss one day
dusting because you went to the zoo, you will hit it the
next week on its assigned day...no big deal! Try it, you
will love the amount of time you will save and the day you
will get back!
