Respect your List!
I don’t know about you but I am a total list maker!!! Listing comes with being an organization freak…I am the crazy person that actually writes stuff on the list that I have already made and then I immediately cross it off...I love the feeling of crossing things off a list!!!!! It brings me joy!!!!
But part of the joy of keeping a good list is finding the proper material to make the list on….NOOOOO not the back of an old receipt, napkin or gum wrapper….Lists or listing items to do are meant to be treated with more respect for all that they do for us…Treat your list properly and invest a product worthy of holding all your “to do’s”
What am I talking about? Simple… NEON colored index cards! You can find them at any grocer or at your local Wal-Mart. Just buy the regular sized BRIGHT NEON index cards!!!! Why you may ask…
I have provided a list of reasons below –
1. The bright NEON color makes the list easy to spot in the depths of your purse or baby bag.
2. The firmness of the cardboard-like nature of the card keeps it from crumbling up in your bag like the receipts do, or dissolving into nothing when your toddler teethes with it at the grocery store.
3. They cards are lined to make for neat list keeping…or if you prefer no lines the back side is blank.
4. They are the perfect size for a list! Sometimes, I draw a line down the middle of the card and keep listing on the right side of the card…exceptionally busy times call for front and back usage …if you need more space than that for your list…you might need less stuff in you life to list!
5. You can use the different colors for different kinds of lists…for example at Christmas time I assign one color to my son and one color to my daughter…there are like four or five colors in a package…one can be groceries and the other “to do’s” etc. That way you can look in your purse/baby bag and just grab the color you need.
6. They fit perfectly in a back pocket!
7. They fit perfectly in a day timer or pocket/purse calendar!
8. The sit up nicely on the top of a keyboard!
9. If you REALLY need more space…they do make some larger mulit colored (not neon) index cards…I will admit that I have been known to use the larger ones at really busy times…like holidays etc.
I keep them in a few places around the house – my desk in the study, my drawer in the kitchen and my purse…this way I just grab one and let the “listing” begin!
Trust me…for all you list-makers out there...you will LOVE the difference it makes!
Just thinking about it makes me want to go make a list right now!!!!! (Just kidding…sort of)
