2007 Summer Trends
(Great Resource for a Mom that wants to be Polished!)

Summer is coming and so you do not look like you are stuck in the 80's we have a friend, that is so stylish, come up with some summer trends. She has done research and given us an awesome list.

2007 Trends (Spring/Summer)

Ten Currents:

1. Romantic Blouses-
Think ruffles, beads, silks, pleats, pin-tucked, lace, and eyelet. These cuts work well: cami’s, fancy tanks, tailored, Caftans. Floral patterns are big this season. Balance with very tailored bottoms. Coming up, we’ll be seeing clothes inspired by the movies ‘Marie Antoinette’ and ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’: think corset-type tops.

2. Cropped Jackets-
Super cool over those sweet blouses. Look for details like peplums or puff sleeves. Pair with anything: trousers, jeans, cropped pants, skinny’s, pencil skirt, Empire dress, knee length shorts, or even short-shorts.

3. Wide Leg Pants-
Balance with a structured top

4. Shorts-
Knee length or short-short

5. Burst of Color-
Jewel colors are right for this season’s ‘Royal’ look: persimmon, emerald, indigo, canary, Also try orange, yellow (remember Reese’s yellow and red combo?) and green. If the color is bright, make sure the fabric is soft, not structured. If choosing to wear a bold piece of color, bring everything else down. Use your neutrals to balance. If wearing bold, metallic accessories work well

6. Dresses-
The belted shirt dress, trapeze dress, long and above the knee, many choices.
Try a short, swingy or gathered dress
What about a ‘Little White Dress’?
Color Blocking is big this season.

7. Metallics-
Shine Bright! Apparel, bags, shoes, jewelry… just not all at once
Gold, silver, bronze; it’s all good!
Wearing metallic shoes and bags at the same time is fine as long as both pieces are not ‘substantial’.

8. Patent Accessories- High Gloss!
Belts, bags and shoes, of course

9. Statement Jewels-
The bigger the better
Estate-sized Cocktail rings
Gold Bangles (trying piling on both wrists)

10. Flats-
Ballet flats, Peep-toes, metallic

Tips:
Platform shoes are also very ‘now’.

Think of pairing Knee length shorts with a crisp button down blouse (sleeves rolled up) and flats.

A wardrobe must- everyone needs a crisp white shirt. Think of the possibilities: trousers, pencil skirt, dark wide leg jeans, cropped jeans, narrow cropped slim capri’s, endless.

Skinny pants are still wearable this season; Pair these with a more voluminous top.

Trench coats are BIG for Spring. Think of pairing with last season’s leggings and this season’s metallic accessories.

Combine masculine and feminine details.

Think Refinement and Ladylike.

Steer clear of buying ‘outfits’. Mix and match; so much cooler.

Other Tips from our friend Julia:
Be careful with knee length shorts if hips are your "asset".

Small prints up top if you are busty, and be careful with the maternity style stuff.

Floaty pieces seem to be good if you are proportionate (big all over, small all over).

Pear-shapes need to balance looser tops with tailored bottoms (no tight Ts and cargos).

Don't go oversize if you are petite - here's where Jennifer's cropped jacket suggestion looks good (above).

Chunky heals balance out big calves, kitten heals look good on skinny calves (that's from the "what not to wear" people).
